Day 1 Depart USA

You board your aircraft for the overnight flight to the “Paris of the South”, Buenos Aires, home of the Tango, resting place of Evita, and capital of Argentina.


Day 2 Welcome to Argentina

Upon arrival you are met by your guide and escorted to your car which will take you to your hotel which is located in Recoleta one of the most elegant areas of the city.  The rest of the day is yours to relax or stroll through the interesting neighborhood. If you are interested in fashionable shopping the most exclusive shopping gallery in Argentina is right outside your hotel door. In the evening your guide will meet you and take you to a local restaurant for dinner.


Day 3 The Eclectic Areas of Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires is an elegant and cosmopolitan city with European flavor and a friendly atmosphere. You will get to see quite a bit of it today accompanied by your personal guide. You will start with the monumental highlights like the main square, Plaza de Mayo with its neo-classical Cathedral, colonial town hall and the Presidential Palace, the “Casa Rosada” which Juan and Eva Peron once inhabited. You then continue to the old neighborhood of San Telmo with its narrow cobblestone streets; La Boca with is multicolor tin houses, the elegant Barrio Norte neighborhood, and Palermo with its wonderful parks and gardens, monuments and magnificent mansions. After a leisurely lunch you have the rest of the afternoon fee for some shopping or a visit to one of the many art galleries. In the evening there are many fine restaurants of all types within walking distance of the hotel.

Day 4 Shopping by Day, Tango by Night

We have left today open for you to explore Buenos Aires at your own pace. In addition to the dining options there are many fine art galleries, antique shops and boutiques in the area. There is also Patio Bullrich the most upscale shopping plaza in Buenos Aires. Sightseeing or shopping, the choice is yours. In the evening your guide will be waiting to take you back to San Telmo where you have dinner matched with fine Argentinean wines. After dinner you cross the cobblestone street into the most authentic tango venue in Buenos Aires. Here you will enjoy VIP seating for an authentic Tango performance with the best musicians and dancers in the city.

Day 5 From Buenos Aires to Lago Argentino

After breakfast you will be transferred to the domestic airport where you board a flight for southern Patagonia and your charming hotel situated directly in front of the Perito Moreno Glacier. Upon arrival you are transferred to the hotel and enjoy lunch overlooking the lake. In the afternoon take a leisurely stroll by the shore of the lake with the impressive glacier filling your eyes in the distance.

Day 6 Exploring the Glacier

After a hearty breakfast you begin your full day exploration of the Perito Moreno Glacier. You will start by driving to the catwalks where you can view the glacier and hear ice crack and roar as it "calves" from the main glacier into the lake. You then board a boat for the short ride from Bajo de las Sombras across the Brazo Rico to disembark on the other side. After a short walk through birch forests along the lake shore, your guides will help you put on crampons prior to starting your unforgettable walk on the glacier itself. Your specialized guides will take you across the glacier viewing crevices, underground rivers cascades and ice caves of iridescent blue hues. Soon you will get to the shelter where lunch will be served. Finally you return by boat navigating very close to the Southern Face of the glacier listening to the crack and roar of the ice...

Day 7 A Change of Pace

After your adventures on the glacier you now turn to more tranquil pursuits in Central Patagonia. You fly to Neuquén where a driver is waiting to take you to your contemporary resort built around wine. Upon arrival you have the opportunity to inspect the vineyard or try the spa with its wine based treatments before enjoying dinner in the restaurant accompanied by the appropriate wines.

Day 8 A Day in the Patagonian Terroir

After breakfast you will head out to the vineyards to get a hands-on lesson in cultivation. Depending on the time of year you could be pruning or, in March, harvesting the grapes and beginning the winemaking process. Regardless of the time of year you will get a detailed explanation of the process and an intense session in the tasting room. In the evening spend some time at the Tapas and wine bar before another excellent Patagonian meal with wine.

Day 9 From the Patagonian Plains to the High Desert

Today you will fly north to Salta, the major town in the high desert region of Argentina. Upon arrival you will be met by your guide who will escort you to the car for the trip to your beautiful hotel which combines stunning architecture, a renowned spa and a working vineyard. Upon arrival you have the chance to relax and unwind and perhaps take advantage of the spa to work out the kinks. In the evening enjoy dinner before retiring for the night.

Day 10 A Day in the Vineyard

Your hotel is located in the El Esteco Winery and is one of the numerous vineyards in the Calchaquíes Valley since it is ideal wine growing terroir. At an altitude of 5,000 feet but in a desert environment, the temperatures are not extreme but do allow warm days and cool nights. The sandy and stony soil along with mountain water adds to the mix. You will tour several vineyards and taste their products including Torrentos wine which is indigenous to this area. In the evening enjoy the fine cuisine of the chef. Eggs play an interesting part because, in the past, egg shells were used for clarification of the wine so the eggs themselves ended up in many recipes particularly desserts like ambrosia, rice pudding and regional pies.


Day 11 From Scarcity to Surplus

If the High desert represents an absence of water then Iguazu is the exact opposite. The Iguazu River is born in Brazil and flows along a plateau for 800 miles before reaching a fault forming a crack in the layers of sandstone and basalt where in an area known as the Devil’s Throat it drops 240 feet to the river below. It was discovered in 1541 and is, today a major attraction on both the Argentinean and Brazilian sides. Upon arrival you are met and taken to lunch and then to your hotel where you have a chance to relax. Dinner is at the hotel this evening.

Day 12 Adventures at the Falls

This morning your expert guide will take you on a walking tour of the upper rim of the falls where you get a panoramic view of the many falls that make up the Iguazu complex that adjoins Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay. You then board a park train to the “Devil’s Throat” where you take a trip along a walkway  getting  the chance to see and hear the falls which are 450 feet wide and drop over 240 feet in a display of raw power. You then move to the lower circuit which gives you a different perspective on the falls. Here at the lower level of the falls you feel the spirit of the forest: humidity, sounds, aromas and the penetrating mist that dominates the area. You return to the hotel for lunch and then board special open truck vehicles which will take you on a tour of the local jungles/ You then descend on foot to San Martin Island where you board high-powered Zodiac boats to pass through the lower canyon of the river to the foot of the “Three Musketeers” falls and a few of both the Argentinean and Brazilian side of the falls; wear clothes that you don’t mind getting wet.

Day 13 Relaxation and Departure

You have this final morning to relax at your hotel in the jungle. You can take a nature walk; try out the spa of take a refreshing dip in the pool. After lunch you are escorted to the airport where you board a flight that will connect with your international flight back to the USA.
