There has been a castle at this location since the 13th Century but it was not until the 19th Century that the Guinness family bought it as a country house and turned it into the showpiece that it remains today. In 1939 it was turned into a hotel and has had several owners since but the quality of the facility and the service has never wavered. This is “Quiet Man” country and, in fact, the director and all principal actors stayed at Ashford Castle during the filming.

Although Belfast is part of the United Kingdom it actively participates with the tourism authorities of Eire to promote the entire Island. During “ the troubles” as they were known, few would chance a visit to this city but all that has changed and Belfast has emerged as a mecca for leisure travelers throughout Europe particularly over long weekends. Belfast was built on its textiles and shipbuilding. It was here in fact that the Titanic was built in the Harland & Woolf shipyards and the new exhibit at the exact area where Titanic was built has been a major part of the city’s renaissance.

It’s a university town with a beautiful campus in the center of town. It straddles the River Lee and is famous for its English Market, the source, despite its name, for all things edible and Irish. If you are a foodie this could be a full day destination. Nearby is Blarney Castle which will, by kissing the Blarney Stone give you the gift of eloquence. Cobh is a port city where most Irish immigrants departed from on their way to America including 128 ill-fated souls who boarded the Titanic and headed out to sea and tragedy. We’ll show it all to you and leave time to explore this charming city at your own pace.

Approached by a meandering drive that passes acres of magnificent lawns, this luxury Castle Hotel overlooks its own glistening lake which commands the panoramic beauty of the surrounds. It is an ideal location for exploring Ireland’s Atlantic coast including the stunning Cliffs of Moher and for the charming city of Limerick. It is also eight miles from Shannon airport.

4 Days:$1,596 per person based on a minimum of two and a maximum of six guests. Add additional Interludes to create your perfect European vacation.

“In Dublin’s fair city…where the girls are so pretty…I first set my eyes on sweet Molly Malone.” We won’t debate the beauty standards of the Dublin natives but this old song does reinforce the image of the Irish as both full of song and full of charm. You’ll find out for yourself as your private guide introduces you to the literary legacy of Dublin as you walk the streets of this eminently walkable city. Walk through the green quad of Trinity College or along the banks of the Liffey and you will come to realize that Ireland will “steal your heart away”

Located between Lough (Lake) Corrib and Galway Bay, water has an impact on its climate, which is temperate, its cuisine and its culture. The city itself is the 4th largest in Ireland and offers a diverse music and arts scene that has earned it the title of “Ireland’s Cultural Heart”
