Andean Lake Crossing/ Chile to Argentina

4 Days:$1,120 per person based on private departures for a minimum of two and a maximum of six guests Add additional Interludes to create your own special experience in Chile or South America

In travel there is always a way to get from point A to point B but only rarely is a pathway so filled with natural beauty, a variety of transportation offerings or such a spectacular beginning and end. In Northern Patagonia it is possible in one scenic day to cross the Andes from Chile to Argentina using a combination of coordinated lake crossings and scheduled vehicles. We believe, however that the journey is best savored by overnighting in a charming hotel in a national park on the Chilean side of the border.

Atacama Desert/ Explora Atacama

4 Days:$2,235 per person based on private departures for a minimum of two and a maximum of six guests Add additional Interludes to create your own special experience in Chile or South America

The first European explorers in this area were drawn by tales of a land rich in gold somewhere to the south of the Inca Empire. It was on this quest that the Spaniard, Diego de Almagro, after a dramatic journey across the Andes Mountains, in which more than half his men perished, became the first European to arrive in Chile and cross the Atacama, the driest desert on Earth. Within the desert, however there is an oasis called San Pedro de Atacama and it offers the opportunity today, as to travelers in days gone by, to enjoy the beauty of the desert but with water and creature comforts close by.

Atacama Desert/Awasi

4 Days:$2,440 per person based on private departures for a minimum of two and a maximum of six guests Add additional Interludes to create your own special experience in Chile or South America

In the immensity of the Atacama Desert in the north of Chile, the driest, most desolate and arid in the world, the Andean Altiplano will surprise you with its dramatic, exotic, awe-inspiring beauty. San Pedro de Atacama, a small town surrounded by impressive natural scenery, was the cradle of ancestral cultures. Considered today to be the archaeological capital of Chile, San Pedro continues to be a silent witness of the passage of time. Awasi is situated inside an ancient site surrounded by a historic wall, which for years housed shepherds and herders. Its privileged location just a stone’s throw from the center of town makes it possible to enjoy “town life”. We invite you to visit the church, the museum, the fair, and the picturesque local stores and get to know the people.

Santiago

Santiago, the capital of Chile is located in the center of the country and because of its proximity to the Andes; snow-capped peaks are visible from any part of the city not unlike Denver except at close to sea level. It is a modern, clean and bustling city but still offers a colonial atmosphere due to its architecture, streets and small squares. Again like Denver and Salt Lake City there are world class ski resorts within easy driving distance of the city but like Los Angeles the coast is also nearby. This is a cosmopolitan city with high fashion, trendy boulevards and superb cuisine.

The first soccer team was created by the English, the first parochial school by the French and the first private secular schools by Scots and Germans. This melting pot of cultures combined with the unique architecture and enhanced by its bohemian and somewhat risqué past makes Valparaiso Chile’s “Cultural Capital”. The city, built on 43 hills sloping down to the sea has a natural beauty reminiscent of many harbor cities. This natural beauty is enhanced by the colorful houses that cling to the hills offering dramatic vistas from either the bottom or the top of the hills and reminding many people of San Francisco with a little Seattle thrown in.
